Union plastic PVC pneumatic diaphragm valve
Pneumatic diaphragm valve are fluid control devices that use pressure differences and a diaphragm to regulate flow. The diaphragm, usually made of flexible materials like EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) or EPDM combined with PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), forms a tight seal between the valve body and the actuator. This ensures accurate and leak-free performance. The pneumatic actuator, powered by compressed air, opens or closes the valve depending on the control signal received.
Types of Pneumatic Diaphragm Valves
Based on the actuation methods, pneumatic diaphragm valves can be categorized into:
- Double-acting pneumatic diaphragm valves: These valves require air pressure for both opening and closing the valve. In this design, the diaphragm is subjected to air pressure on both sides, providing a shorter response time and constant control.
- Single-acting pneumatic diaphragm valves: These valves rely on air pressure for either opening or closing the valve, with the other movement powered by a spring. Single-acting valves can be normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO).
Structure, Mechanism, and System Integration
The Union plastic PVC pneumatic diaphragm valve consists of the following components:
- Valve body: Made of PVC or CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride), the valve body is responsible for housing the diaphragm and providing the pipeline connection.
- Diaphragm: Available in EPDM or EPDM+PTFE, the diaphragm ensures a leak-free operation and can handle different fluid types.
- Pneumatic actuator: Using either double-acting or single-acting control, the actuator moves the diaphragm to open or close the valve.
- Ends: The valve is equipped with flanged ends for easy pipeline connection.
Pneumatic diaphragm valves can be integrated with several accessories, including solenoid valves, limit switch boxes, filters, E/P positioners, and handwheels for enhanced control and monitoring.
Applications across Industries
Pneumatic diaphragm valves are versatile and can be found in numerous industries, such as:
- Water treatment: Regulating flow and pressure in water distribution systems.
- Chemical processing: Handling corrosive and aggressive fluids with minimal risk of leaks.
- Pharmaceutical: Maintaining cleanliness and sterility in high-purity applications.
- Food and beverage: Ensuring hygienic conditions and preventing contamination.
