PVDF plastic pneumatic diaphragm valve
Pneumatic diaphragm valves consist of a flexible diaphragm and a pneumatic actuator, which controls the movement of the diaphragm to regulate fluid flow in a piping system. Diaphragm valves can be normally closed (NC), normally open (NO), or double-acting, with different actuation methods to suit various industry requirements.
PVDF Plastic Pneumatic Diaphragm Valve
The pneumatic diaphragm valve stands out due to its robust construction and versatile applications. This valve is available in various sizes, ranging from 1/2″ to 10″ (15mm – 250mm), and comes with different body materials such as UPVC, CPVC, or PVDF. Its diaphragm material varies, with choices like EPDM and EPDM+PTFE. The valve can support pressure supplies up to 5.5 bar and boasts a range of end connections to ensure compatibility with diverse systems.
Mechanism & Structure
The structure of a pneumatic diaphragm valve typically consists of three main components: the valve body, diaphragm, and pneumatic actuator.
Valve Body
The valve body houses the flow channel and connects to the piping system through flange ends or pipe threads. It can be made of various materials, with popular choices being WCB, SS316, SS316L, and body plus rubber lined with PFA or PTFE.
Diaphragm
The diaphragm, made of EPDM, EPDM+PTFE, or other materials, creates a seal between the valve body and actuator. It flexes under pressure from the actuator, opening or closing the flow channel depending on the control input.
Pneumatic Actuator
The pneumatic actuator supplies the force to operate the diaphragm. It can be double-acting, single-acting normally closed, or single-acting normally open, with pneumatic accessories that may include a solenoid valve, limit switch box, filter, E/P positioner, and handwheel for manual operation.
Applications & Industries
Pneumatic diaphragm valves have widespread applications across various industries:
- Pharmaceutical & Biotech: These valves are often used in cleanrooms, laboratories, and sterile processes where precise control of fluid flow is essential.
- Chemical & Petrochemical: With their corrosion-resistant properties, they can handle a variety of aggressive chemicals in these industries.
- Food & Beverage: They provide excellent hygienic performance for applications requiring stringent cleanliness and sterility standards.
- Water & Wastewater Treatment: Their ability to handle abrasive and corrosive fluids makes them suitable for managing water treatment processes.
